Spec Formliners Project News – Florida Edition

Spec Formliners continues expanding our footprint in large-format retail construction with two recent Home Depot builds in Florida. Each project showcases how tilt-wall methodology + architectural formliners = accelerated schedules, strong branding, and reliable quality across hundreds of thousands of square feet.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHT #1 – Wildwood, FL

Project Name: The Home Depot – Wildwood

Location: Wildwood, Florida

Construction Type: Tilt-Wall

Store Size: ~136,000 sq. ft. (≈108k interior | 28k garden center)

This project holds a major milestone for the brand – The Home Depot’s 700th store in the Southeast region, officially opened May 30, 2024. Built by White-Spunner Construction, the tilt-wall approach enabled faster enclosure and reduced onsite labor thanks to efficient crane sequencing and reduced formwork turnover.

Spec Formliners played a key role by supplying precision-engineered architectural formliner tooling used during panel fabrication. Our full-height systems ensured consistent texture repetition across large wall spans while minimizing panel finishing and patching once erected. With a footprint exceeding 136,000 sq. ft., texture alignment and panel quality were essential to ensuring uniform brand appearance, long-term durability, and reduced lifecycle touch-ups.

Wildwood’s rapid, schedule-driven delivery demonstrated how integrating texture decisions early allows owners and contractors to realize both economic and architectural gains — all while celebrating a major growth achievement for the retailer.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHT #2 – Viera / Rockledge, FL

Project Name: The Home Depot – Viera

Location: Rockledge, Florida (Viera Blvd)

Construction Type: Tilt-Wall

Store Size: ~135,000 sq. ft.

Located in a rapidly growing mixed-use retail hub, this new Home Depot location anchors ongoing development along the Viera corridor. The project required a speed-to-market tilt-wall strategy, helping the owner meet demand in one of Florida’s fastest-expanding regions. Large retail-scale tilt-up panels reduced schedule risk, allowing construction teams to stabilize lead times despite labor and weather variability common in the state.

Spec Formliners supplied architectural texture tooling engineered for efficient repetition across panels—protecting casting velocity and maintaining the clean, recognizable façade expected of Home Depot properties nationwide. This strategic integration of texture early in planning helps ensure strong brand continuity across regional expansions while reducing the finishing load as new locations accelerate to opening day.

The result: a durable, high-performance retail structure delivered with both operational speed and architectural intention.

Why GCs, Precasters & Owners Choose Spec Formliners

Large-format retail construction isn’t just about square footage — it’s about predictability:

Faster panel cycles = earlier enclosure + earlier revenue activation

Full-panel liner support = fewer punch-list headaches

Texture as a production tool = reduced finishing labor + aesthetic consistency

Brand elevation = better alignment with modern retail design standards

📖 Graffiti-Resistant Finishes: How Texture + Coatings Protect in Urban Environments

Graffiti may be seen as art by some, but for cities and contractors, it’s a costly, ongoing maintenance issue across highways, bridges, and civic structures. Modern concrete solutions, using strategic formliner textures and protective coatings, help deter vandalism and make cleanup faster, easier, and more cost-effective.
